Dear HCPSS BOE and HCPSS Transportation Department,
In the recent BOE decision to expand the elementary walk area for the HCPSS 23-24 school year, approximately 27 Bryant Woods Elementary students in the Rideout Health apartment complex community lost their access to a bus. We are asking you to please reinstate the bus to and from Rideout Health to Bryant Woods Elementary.
The Rideout Health apartments are located approximately 1.3 miles from Bryant Woods, across Twin Rivers Parkway. Normally, there is a tunnel for pedestrians to use to cross Twin Rivers but with the construction of a new apartment complex, access to the tunnel is closed, leaving students to have to navigate across the busy road without a crossing guard.
[include any personal barriers such as lack of personal transportation]
We care about our children and want to ensure they get the quality education Howard County provides. Our community relies on transportation provided by the school system to get our children to and from school safely.
We are asking you to please reinstate the bus to and from Rideout Health to Bryant Woods elementary school.
Sincerely,
